Artist in Residence: Origen Festival «The Artist's Way» am SQUARE

Origen bringt als «Artist in Residence» des SQUARE-Programms einen neu geschaffenen Tanzabend auf die Bühne. Zur Aufführung gelangt Origens Tanzproduktion «The Artist’s Way». Das Werk ist eine Kreation des britischen Choreographen Robert Robinson und wurde im vergangenen Sommer auf Burg Riom uraufgeführt. In seinem ersten abendfüllenden Werk für Origens Bühnen befasst sich Robinson damit, wie seine Wahrnehmung von Zeit und Vergänglichkeit seinen Weg als Künstler geprägt hat.

Sou Fujimoto, born in Japan in 1971, is a renowned architect known for his innovative combination of nature and architecture. He graduated from the University of Tokyo and founded Sou Fujimoto Architects in 2000. Fujimoto's work, which is inspired by nature and often blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, includes both residential and public projects. As the architect of SQUARE at the University of St.Gallen, he highlights the importance of architecture in shaping innovative educational environments.

"Holidays" by Mats Staub

Mats Staub, born in 1972 in Muri near Bern, Switzerland, is an artist who lives and works in Berlin. With a background in theatre studies, journalism, and religious studies, Staub has engaged in creating art that blurs the lines between theatre, exhibitions, science, and literature since 2004. His work, known for its patient and attentive observation of people, addresses fundamental aspects of life within a communal context. Awarded the Swiss Theatre Prize in 2020 for his unique contribution to the arts, his projects are celebrated for their intense humanity and coherent poetry.

"The Artist's Way" by Robert Robinson

The dance piece "The Artist's Way," crafted by British choreographer Robert Robinson, made its debut last summer at Riom Castle. It explores themes of time and transience, mirroring Robinson's personal journey as an artist. This year, Origen's performance at SQUARE will spotlight the journey of choreography and the broader artistic creation process.
