Committing Authenticated Encryption: NIST Finalists and Generic Composition with Patrick Struck

Join us as Patrick Struck, leader of the Cryptography and Cyber Security group at the University of Konstanz, unveils critical insights into committing authenticated encryption schemes through an analysis of the NIST lightweight cryptography standardization process finalists. This talk will explore the significance of committing authenticated encryption, which ensures the difficulty of finding two contexts leading to the same ciphertext decryption. With a focus on the evaluation of 10 finalists, revealing that only 3 meet the criteria for committing authenticated encryption and presenting attacks against the others, Patrick will also discuss the differences between Encrypt-and-MAC and Encrypt-then-MAC in the context of committing properties.
