Artist in Residence: Tim Mälzer

Tim Mälzer is known as a restaurateur, TV chef and entrepreneur. He is also a creative mind, culinary consultant and art lover. And honorary lock keeper of the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, where he has also runs the «Bullerei» restaurant in the Schanzenviertel district since 2009. Promoting young chefs is particularly close to his heart.

Mälzer has enjoyed great success on television for many years. Most recently, he appeared in front of the camera for the 11th season of Kitchen Impossible. He combines entertainment with attitude, for which Tim Mälzer and his crew were awarded with the Grimme Prize and the German Television Prize.

Sense and nonsense of entrepreneurship

Debate with Tim Mälzer and Oliver Gassmann

Entrepreneurship is considered the driving force behind innovation and social development. At the same time, it is facing growing criticism: between rhetoric about meaning and pressure to be efficient, the question arises again as to what its meaning – or indeed its meaninglessness – lies in.

The discussion brings together different perspectives on entrepreneurial activity and creates space for a nuanced debate: when does it degenerate into empty self-optimisation or pure market logic? And how can economic ambition, responsibility and personal motivation be productively combined?

With Oliver Gassmann, innovation researcher and expert in business models at the University of St. Gallen, and Tim Mälzer, chef and entrepreneur with many years of practical experience in branding, marketing and craftsmanship. The debate will be moderated by Yuan Yao, entrepreneur and professional chef, who brings together different worlds of experience.

Human Library: Personal conversations with Tim Mälzer

As part of our Human Library, we are delighted to welcome Tim Mälzer as a ‘living book’. In personal discussions, he will share insights into his experiences as an entrepreneur, chef, TV presenter and author.

The conversations with individuals or groups of up to three people will last 20 minutes each. The Slots are allready sold out. Thanks for your understanding.
