Wolfgang Schürer's life journey took its decisive turn at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). It was here that he developed his normative compass and gained the tools for both his professional and voluntary career. The dialogue with academic teachers and mentors shaped him and led to the creation of a laboratory for listening to each other and engaging in discussions: The St. Gallen Symposium.
The question of whether dialogue and the search for consensus are also culturally anchored continues to occupy him to this day. The liberal institutions of Switzerland, which are meant to enable societal consensus, or the Norwegian tradition of international peace diplomacy, stand out. Can these traditions and institutions be conveyed, and under what conditions can they function?
Wolfgang Schürer invites you to join him on an intellectual journey that aims to bring together different perspectives and positions. What does it mean today to take responsibility in business, politics, or civil society? How can entrepreneurship connect the various economic, political, and ethical logics? How can civil engagement have an impact today?
