The Swiss film “Je suis noires” is a thought-provoking documentary that explores the experiences of Black Swiss women and the fight against structural racism.
The documentary by Rachel M'Bon and Juliana Fanjul is screening this March as part of the St. Gallen "Aktionstage gegen Rassismus". The film follows Swiss Black women who are fighting for recognition of structural racism, deconstructing stereotypes, and proudly claiming their dual identity as Swiss and Black.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the director on March 27th at the SQUARE in St. Gallen, organized by Christian Pierce from the Competence Centre for Diversity & Inclusion (CCDI-FIM). This is an important opportunity to hear new voices and perspectives on the challenges of racism in Switzerland.
As the film highlights, it can be challenging to confront the shadow side of a country that prides itself on neutrality and humanitarianism. But by listening to the stories and experiences of minorities, we can understand how our past continues to shape our present. We encourage everyone to attend the screening and join in the conversation about how we can work towards a more inclusive and equitable society.

Serious gaming is an effective way to apply theoretical knowledge, and game design can help university faculty create interactive and engaging learning exercises for students, both online and offline. Research has shown that academic courses that include serious games score higher on metrics such as student satisfaction and engagement.
Join SQUARE for a one-day workshop, where two experts in serious game design, Tim Goudriaan and Diederik Stolk, will guide you through the process of building a scenario-based game in the areas of geo-politics, business, economics, and security. This workshop is exclusively for faculty and lecturers at the University of St.Gallen, and prior registration is necessary.
To further prepare, we highly recommend participating in the "St.Gallen Strategy Days", a large-scale two-day serious gaming exercise held on June 1st and 2nd.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn and engage with serious game design! The workshop will be conducted in English.
On July 18th-19th, 2023, SQUARE will host the Final of the First University of St. Gallen Grand Challenge, focusing on assessing cutting-edge A.I. technology in light of the upcoming EU A.I. Act. Six teams of professionals will compete for a prize of 100,000 CHF, awarded by a jury. The EU A.I. Act categorizes A.I. according to risk, and the Grand Challenge will reveal how this new legislation can be implemented on specific technology. The public can attend to witness the competition, and some A.I. technology will be on display. Participation is open, and potential teams should register for an online informational event on March 2, 2023.
