The second release of the Value Creation Ratings (VCr) covers 1000 firms worldwide, expanding both the reach and impact of our assessment of Sustainable Value Creation. This innovative, balanced, and comprehensive framework introduces a new lens for executives, investors, and analysts to evaluate corporate strategy and long-term viability.

With a significantly broadened dataset, firms are assessed across a diverse set of metrics — including ecological impact, innovation, market power, internationalization, diversity & inclusion, and more. The VCr complements the macro-level Elite Quality Index (EQx), which measures Sustainable Value Creation at the national level.

Key insights from the 2025 edition:

  • Sustainable Value Creation can be quantified – and reveals striking differences across sectors and regions.
  • The average Value Creation Rating (VCr) stands at 1.53, and the average Value Creation Position (VCp) at 78%.
  • The automotive industry leads the ranking (VCr 1.63), while technology ranks fifth (1.50).
  • The dispersion across 44 countries is 0.34, underscoring significant global disparities in value creation quality.
  • Example: Apple generates USD 391 billion in revenue and creates USD 396 billion in total value, including USD 198 billion in value transfer-IN and USD 396 billion in transfer-OUT – marking an exceptional net contribution to society.

Keynote speakers interpreting and discussing the findings include Philipp Rösler (Former Vice Chancellor of Germany and Entrepreneur), EY Ukraine, the Board Foundation, the University of Antwerp, and numerous students and faculty (Martin Nerlinger, Tomas Casas, Guido Cozzi) from the University of St. Gallen (HSG). Event in English.
