The St.Gallen Collegium invites you to an evening of reflection on economic growth and the almost magical hold it exerts on human imagination. We will explore the ideas, myths, and narratives that make growth appear both inevitable and desirable, and examine how these relate to our understanding of freedom and political arrangements.
The evening will open with a lecture by Dr. Andreas Lingg (Hans Christoph Binswanger Fellow 2025) on economic growth in the Republic of Venice. It will be followed by a panel discussion among Collegium Fellows and scholars, moderated by Prof. Claudia Brühwiler. The evening will honor the intellectual legacy of the late Hans Christoph Binswanger, professor at HSG from 1969-1994.
