Tim Kramer, the new director of SQUARE, introduces himself – in a truly unique way. Like in a promenade theatre, you are invited to explore the different spaces designed by Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto while discovering the key milestones of Tim Kramer’s career. A person who bridges two worlds: the academic and theoretical, through his experience as the youngest department head at the Conservatory of Vienna and as Artistic Director of the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding, as well as the practical and artistic, through his roles as Drama Director at Konzert und Theater St. Gallen and Theater Magdeburg.
True to his style, Tim Kramer, who values collaboration, will not take the stage alone. Longtime companions and new acquaintances will join him throughout the evening. Conductor and double bassist Francisco Obieta will provide the musical framework, while SQUARE’s new dramaturge, Melanie Oșan, oversees the conceptual design of the event. His former acting student Boglárka Horváthand St. Gallen City Theater actor Marcus Schäfer will offer insights into Kramer’s artistic journey by reenacting scenes from the past. Kramer himself will step into both roles—teacher and actor—by inviting the audience to participate in exercises from his course and performing a monologue.
The evening will be an ode to transformation, innovation, and openness at SQUARE.
