The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is an academic research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia.
AND, it’s coming to HSG for the first time this fall!
If you’re a currently matriculated PhD student at HSG—from any faculty—you’re eligible to apply.
This may be the opportunity for you if you wish to:
improve your presentation skills (through individual training with our expert coach),
share your doctoral research with a general audience beyond your field of research, and
potentially win prize money/compete internationally amongst 900+ presenters from 85+ countries.
First place: 1,000CHF
Honorable mention: 500CHF
Audience choice: 500CHF
Comprehension & Content (e.g., research background and significance, clear/logical sequence, no jargon, describe key results/conclusions/outcomes)
Engagement & Communication (e.g., careful not to trivialize/over-generalize, enthusiastic, capture/maintain audience attention, stage presence, appropriate PowerPoint slide)

As one of the first student initiatives at HSG, we are able to contribute to the future of learning by hosting our yearly conference at SQUARE, which makes us especially proud. Here, we aim to provide a platform for intergenerational, international, and interdisciplinary dialogue to shape the future of sports. In our interactive platform, the Impulse Summit, we unite 200 leaders from in and around the industry with 60 selected Global Talents. Our Global Talents are invited to Switzerland for a 5-day program that ends with the Impulse Summit at SQUARE. Here, our experts and Global Talents challenge the status quo of the sports industry in interactive formats.
